Round Hill Board of Trustees. May 16, 2022, 6:30pm

Prepare for Meeting and Prayer: At 6:30 Nancy welcomed everyone to the meeting and asked Ed for a prayer. Ed offered a prayer entitled, “Make Me Simple.”

Children’s Ministry Report: At 6:40 Tania reported she and Lizzie were in the process of developing the curriculum for Christian Education from our church’s values. They presented a shared-screen presentation that covered: how the church’s twelve values were used as the basis for the curriculum, then demonstrated more fully how one lesson was designed. Finally, they carefully covered the twelve-month timeline used to organize the whole of the lessons. Lizzie was then excused from the meeting.

The Trustees thanked Tania and Lizzie for their guidance of our young children.

Concert for Ukraine: At 7:00 Tania reported on the “Concert for Ukraine.” Tania and those who attended the concert were very pleased with this very positive and productive event. Not only were funds raised to help war-torn Ukraine but, as Grada noted, the event fostered a family feeling among concert-goers and members. Tania recalled that Roland remarked on the evening how it made one feel that you were a part of something bigger than oneself.

The Trustees thanked Tania, the singers and all church members involved for taking the lead and creating this special event. Helen O’Malley expressed the trustee’s final sentiment when she noted that the care taken to see the event through “really reflected the love everyone feels for Tania and the Ukrainian people”. Tania thanked trustees for being a ‘Force for Good’ through our support. Tania left the meeting at 7:10.

Minutes: At 7:10 the Minutes from April’s meeting were unanimously approved.

Pastor’s Report:  Ed reported that the church was establishing a new pastor’s position. The pastor was not going to be a generalist position but be a Pastor for Spiritual Growth. Ed was considering offering this new position to Shannon White. Pat asked if he thought this would fit Shannon’s professional and personal needs. He said that from their discussions together, she might be the ideal person to do the job.

Jake asked about the expectations for this job. Ed noted that this person would be responsible for the following:

  • Spiritual life and growth

  • Congregational growth

  • Assist in faith formation

  • Work closely with community affairs and the church

Jake next asked if Ed had an idea about how much time would be allotted to each of these areas. Ed explained that spiritual growth and congregational growth would take about fifty percent of the candidate’s time. Forty percent of the job would be devoted to community outreach. The final ten percent of the job would be administrative. Mary Ann was curious that there might be protocol issues because of her being a pastor at another church. Ed thought not because of the distance between her church and ours.

Jake finished with a final follow-up regarding compensation and benefits. Ed assured Jake that the financials were already in place to cover her pay and her health benefits.

Financials: At 7:41 Bruce reviewed the state of the church’s funds and noted that they were healthy and $10,000 ahead of Budget. He added that the installation of the solar panels was due to start on May 18, and that the parking, paving and painting projects were all making excellent progress. He also hoped we would thank Roland when we see him for his help in all these building and grounds-related areas.

Solar Celebration Plans: At 7:48, Leslie provided an outline report on the presentations that will be on show as a part of the June 19 Picnic. Her aim is to keep members informed on the project’s progress and to create ways to continue funding support for the installation and upkeep of the panels over time. The trustees complimented Leslie and her team for continuing to find ways to support the solar initiative. Mary Ann asked if the solar project could be a problem for the Breezemont Day Camp using church grounds. As of the present there seemed to be no conflict.

New Business: No new business was discussed.
