A Weekend with Tony Jones
Tony will lead a workshop for our congregation on everyday spiritual practices in the 21st century, based on his book The Sacred Way: Spiritual Practices for Everyday Life. This book provides a comprehensive yet accessible guide to the time-tested spiritual practices of Christianity adaptable for today’s busy lives.
During the workshop, Tony will help us interact with and rediscover those sacred rhythms to help us focus on the Divine’s presence all around us.
Saturday, March 16, 7:00 p.m.
Tony Jones will give a community-wide lecture based on his book Did God Kill Jesus? Searching for Love in History’s Most Famous Execution. Tony has written an extended exploration of one of Christian theology’s most vexing questions. During his lecture he will take us on an intriguing biblical and historical journey revealing just how the message of love was subverted and how it can be restored. A reception and book signing will follow the lecture.
Sunday, March 17, 10:00 a.m.
Tony will be our guest preacher during our Lenten series. Following the service, Tony will lead the People of the Book Bible study in the Sanctuary. He will help us approach the Scripture through various theological lenses as we discover how one's views of the cross of Christ impacts our interpretations of the Bible and theology.
