Dolores Santoliquido, an exceptional artist of flora and fauna, will be exhibiting her work at Les Beaux Arts Gallery Sunday, May 21, through Friday, June 30, 2017.
During the past forty years, Santoliquido has made her career as an illustrator, a fine artist, and a studio art educator. Since 1990, she has returned to painting the subject matter she has the greatest passion for. She is inspired by the beauty of our natural world including flora, fauna and landscapes. She works in watercolor, graphite, pen and ink, and specializes in working with mixed-media acrylic and color pencil. This is a slow, painstaking technique that enables the artist to have a great deal of control over the media.
Santoliquido has been an adjunct professor of studio art at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York since 1982, teaching courses in Fundamental of Drawing, Illustration, and The Business of Art. She is an instructor in Botanical Art and Illustration at the New York Botanical Garden. She holds a BFA and a Masters Degree in Art Education from Manhattanville College.
Santoloquido's work has been published extensively in books produced by Taunton Press, Crown, Random House, and Knopf among others. Her work has graced the front cover of many publications including Orchids Magazine. Her exacting illustrations have been exhibited in several one-woman shows including The Hunt Institute, Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, New York Botanical Garden, and The Smithsonian Institution. She is an active member of the American Society of Botanical Artists.
The Gallery is open Sunday, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.; closed Saturday. For more information, call 203-869-1091.
