Round Hill Community Church Presents Green Screen Movie & Talk Series to Mark 50th Anniversary of Earth Day
The first Earth Day in 1970 mobilized millions of Americans for the protection of the planet; twenty million people came out to protest environmental neglect and to demand a new way forward for our planet. On April 22, 2020, the world will mark the 50th anniversary of that historic day. In recognition of this significant date and as part of its ongoing Green Initiative, Round Hill Community Church (RHCC) presents a series of environmentally themed films, followed by discussions, to raise awareness and inspire action for a cleaner, safer, more just and sustainable world that protects and supports all creation.
The first film to be shown is Chasing Ice (https://chasingice.com/) which features the story of one man’s mission to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of global warming and our changing planet.
Subsequent movie dates and titles are as follows:
Friday, March 27th at 7 p.m. - Carbon Nation (https://www.carbonnationmovie.com/)
Friday, April 24th at 7 p.m. - The Pollinators (https://www.thepollinators.net/)
The entire community is encouraged to attend. Admission is free.
In the past year, RHCC has taken significant steps to become a faithful steward of this planet, the one thing we all share and the one place we all call home. The Church has dedicated itself to education and positive, hopeful action on behalf of the earth, to be a force for good in the world. In September 2019, RHCC received its Level 1 Green Certification from the Interreligious Eco-Justice Network, Connecticut’s only faith-based environmental non-profit organization. It is currently the only church in Greenwich with this designation and is working diligently on achieving Level 2 status in 2020.
