As a new family, what can we expect when we arrive at Round Hill?
We hope your first visit to Round Hill will be a warm and welcoming one. When you first arrive on a Sunday morning, ushers will greet you and members of our Children’s Worship team are there to greet and welcome children and hand out name tags.
How does Church School work?
We invite all children and families to be part of the Children’s Message from 10:00 to 10:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary. From there trained teachers and staff escort the children to their own worship where they meet by grade level to participate in our Church School curriculum called Whirl.
What grades participate in Children’s Worship?
We are a Pre-K to fifth-grade program. (Nursery care is available for little ones, birth to potty-trained.) The program consists of four groups: Pre-K and K; first and second, third and fourth, and fifth grade.
What is the Holy Moly Program?
The Holy Moly Program by Sparkhouse, engages children through imagination and focuses on hands-on learning. Each Holy Moly lesson is divided into four equally important parts:
- Discover – Introduce kids to the Bible story characters and begin to discover the story by watching an animated Bible story video
- Relate – Discuss what surprised them, what makes them wonder, and how they feel about the story they just saw
- Connect – Open Bibles and explore the day’s story
- Create – Imagine and reflect on the Bible story through hands-on activities or games using their learner leaflet
What if my child doesn’t want to go to Children’s Worship?
Our goal in children’s worship is to create a loving environment that helps meet children where they are socially, emotionally, and developmentally. We recognize not all children are ready or feel comfortable leaving Mom and or Dad. That is OK! Your child is welcome to stay with you during worship in the Sanctuary. We do ask, if they are particularly wiggly, that you take advantage of our upstairs or back row seating marked for families. Additionally, we have speakers in the Church Parlor, and if you like you can take your child there and still hear the message. We encourage you to register your child for the program so that when they are ready, we have all their information and can make sure we have them in their appropriate age group to help give them the best possible experience.
What if my child has a food allergy, special needs, or something particular I am concerned about?
We very much want you and your child to be comfortable at all times. Please call us so we can learn more about them, and help make the program the best place it can be for them.
Who are the teachers?
Our teachers are members of our church who have been trained in our Safe Church Policies and have completed an official background check. They are partnered with a caring and trained staff person to help assist them in the morning.
What if my child is too young for the Children’s Worship Program?
Nursery care is currently not being offered due to the Covid-10 pandemic.
