Families & Children October 2016

October – A Month of Generosity

As parents we can lead by example, provide opportunities for intentional generosity, but it is truly only God that can bring about change in a child’s heart. This month when you are with your children, in the carpool, at dinner, or even in the grocery line, ask them some open-ended questions:

What could we do to make the world a better place?
How can we help others?
What does being generous mean?
How can we as a family be more generous?
I know you will be surprised and enlightened by their answers.

Let's Pray.

Kind and Generous God, help us at Round Hill Community Church be generous, too.
Help us share the good gifts you have given us with others so that all of us may know of your love an care.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

Sitting Still Like a Frog

The audio exercises included with Sitting Still Like a Frog are based on mindfulness-training exercises for adults and developed especially for children and their parents. They form the core of learning to be more mindful at different times throughout the day. You can do the exercises together with your child or children. Some kids like to do the exercises on their own, and many parents love doing the exercises themselves. You can do them sitting on the floor, on a couch or chair, or lying in bed.

Round Hill Community Church’s Children’s Worship is a time for exploring faith, fellowship, and fun for our young people. Our goal is to feel and be a special part of our church community, to experience worship in a child-focused way, and enjoy Christian fellowship with their peers. In October generosity is our theme; we want all Church members, big and small, to know how much they are loved by God and for us to let God know how much we appreciate God's generosity and grace.

As we focus on generosity in the Children’s Ministry, this is a wonderful time to explore as a family what generosity means and feels like in your homes and hearts. If the opportunity presents itself, find a local charity you love and donate your time or support as a family. If you need any help getting connected to one, call me - there are many that I personally love and know would benefit from some extra kindness and support.

Thank you for sharing your generous hearts with us and being part of our church family. To get to know more about our Children's Ministry, or to connect with the Director of Children's Ministries, contact Jenny Byxbee.
