Community Confirmation

Greenwich Community Confirmation Program

The Greenwich Community Confirmation program, sponsored by Round Hill Community Church, is open to all 7th and 8th grade students. Special allowances will be made for students of other ages who have been unable to be confirmed previously. Though content is important in the journey of faith, we believe the process of discovery is equally as important.

Through intentional dialogue and discussion, faith-based questions will be explored over a period of several months. Each confirmand will be paired up with a caring and committed adult; this relational aspect is the foundation of our program. We plan for our program to be a safe place for youth to raise their questions and doubts, and to struggle and wrestle as they engage their faith and its meaning in their lives.

Through study, reflection, and sharing life together, students will discover what it means to be a person of faith and how that can impact living in this world and working for the greater good.

Through exploring Christian faith and other traditions, we hope that students will examine their own beliefs and better understand and articulate their individual experiences and views, and discover that faith is key to a flourishing life.

Community Service

Service is an integral part of faithful living and so Confirmands will be asked to complete a minimum of 10 hours of community service. Below is a list of our local partners. Service days and other domestic opportunities, such as a summer trip to the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation are organized by our congregation and are available to Confirmands as well.

Requirements

Each Confirmand must attend a total of 12 meetings in addition to 10 hours of community service. We also ask that students participate in the First Sundays at Round Hill monthly service and write a brief review/reflection piece for each service. Confirmands will also submit either a written or recorded statement of faith and complete a journal and the Bloom book spiritual practices.

Supplemental material will be provided in the large group class through a series of fun videos from re:form DVD.
